Hello Everyone,
We’re sorry to announce that Campus Fitness Hall has closed, but the owners are looking at other studios at more convenient locations…(with parking lots!) Belly Dance Classes are temporarily postponed until a new space can be provided. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Please stay tuned for more info regarding classes and upcoming performances.
We appreciate your patience and support,
Erin, Jessica and Holly.
For the rest of December Jessica and I will be joining forces Thursday nights at 6:00pm to teach one super charged beginner/intermediate Belly Dance class. With two teachers in the class we’ll be better able to attend to those who may need extra help, we can come around and check posture, and one of us will be available to lead those students who are more advanced with layered movements. We feel that this collaboration will benefit our students and help you get the most out of each class. Belly Dancing is a wonderful way to stay active and get fit and Jessica and I hope to help each of you achieve your goals of better physical and mental health and well being. As our year comes to an end, and the holiday season is upon us, we hope you will remember to not only give to others, but to give to yourself too. Take a break from your busy holiday schedule and come join us every Thursday night as we get back in tune with our bodies and bring balance to our lives as we approach the new year.
Be Well
Erin and Jessica

Belly dance is a low impact form of exercise
The graceful hip drops, rolls, and pivots of this dance form utilize muscle groups in the abdomen, pelvis, trunk, spine, and neck, working with the body instead of against it. Unlike ballet, which can potentially alter and deform the skeleton, or other dance forms that work against rather than with the body’s physical inclinations, raks sharki is based on movements that come naturally to the female form. The benefits of belly dance can be enjoyed by women of all ages.
November 22nd
Holly and I will be holding a choreography workshop that will teach three different styles of belly dance along with local belly dancer Donia and Hannah of Hannah’s Hips. The workshop will be held at Puttin’ on the Ritz Dance Studio in North Syracuse (Driver’s Village) and is from 10 – 2:30.
10-11:15 Erin
11:30-12:45 Hannah
1:15-2:30 Donia
All instructors will be teaching a piece of choreography in their own style to the same song. I think this is a great idea to explore the different areas of belly dance and what a fun way to learn them! We’re looking forward to this and hope you will all be there! Cost is $45 pre-registration or $50 at the door. To pre-register simply email Hannah to reserve your spot today!! Hannahs_hips @yahoo.com. Pre-registering will get you a CD of the song we will be using in the Workshop so email Hannah today!!
Later that night….
MyFusionFlow will be joining some other dancers to opening show for PHISH!!! We are super excited about this opportunity! Unfortunantely there’s no more tickets for this show but we will definately post pictures of this event as soon as we get them. If you have tickets for this show then we’ll see you there!!
December 6th

Don’t forget:
If you are just interested in taking bellydance classes once a week we have the 4 for $40 special going on right now so come in soon and sign up!!
Hey Everyone!
Lots going on right now that I wanted to tell you all about
First up on the weekend of November 21st and 22nd Holly and I (and maybe Jessica) will be joining Hannah and Donia, 2 lovely local bellydancers, for a fusion style choreography workshop! Each instructor will be teaching a peice of choreography in their own style to the same song. You’ll be learning 3 different syles of belly dance all in one workshop! Stay tuned for details of exactly what day, time and price….I’ll post the info as soon as I hear back.
And the best news of all….4 for $40 is back! This means 1 class per week for four weeks is only $40! Only $10 a class! Ya can’t beat that. No excuses now! Belly Dance classes are Monday and Wednesday’s 6:30-7:30 and Tuesday and Thursday 6-7. Get your ab work and cardio in before the holidays!!
Since teaching at Syracuse’s Campus Fitness Hall I have refined how I run my class. Because both Monday and Wednesday night classes are beginner, as of now, I am teaching them from more of a fitness angle. So far the consensus from students overall has been ”we want to sweat!” So in consideration of this feedback you can expect spending more time on strengthening and cardio in each class. As normal we will start with stretching but then spend some more time on strengthening. The strengthening portion of class will always include ab work, and the other muscle group we work on will vary from class to class. This will be followed by some technique practice in a few belly dance moves like usual but then for the last quarter of class we will put these moves in a combo and dance them and drill them cardio style! I promise you will sweat! So come out to class and have fun working out! You’ll get an aerobic workout as well as the benefits of toning and strengthening all while learning the popular and time honored artistry of belly dance.
For more information including prices and class scheduling please check www.campusfitnesshall.com
Hope to see you all in class soon!!

We are filled with Poe news today.
Here is the description and link to the shows ticketing info:
This multi-media journey into the life of Edgar Allen Poe features dramatic, perspective-driven soliloquies of tales and poetry, modern dance, projected video and a sweeping cinematic score, performed live on electronic and acoustic instruments by composer and musician Emmett Van Slyke.

Last year we first started our wonderful journey with Reflecting Poe, with our first show at the Red House. We had some great reviews and comments from many people.
I thought it would be a great idea for all of you thinking of going to this years show to check out a review of the show from the Post Standard, here is a bit about Erin from the review:
Perhaps the most seductive portion of the production was the tantalizing dances choreographed and performed by Erin Reid. With variations on belly dancing, her body isolations and vacant yet intense facial expression gave the impression she herself embodied the corpses in Poe’s tales. Her rigid movements paired with the fluidity of belly dancing characterized the floating spirits and resurrected corpses. Reid was the only performer to utilize the fabric hung from the ceiling. At times it served as a veil for one of Poe’s brides, others it was the trailing ghostly presence. “The Zone,” the dance before intermission, was a fusion of hip-hop and belly dancing. Dressed in a Tim Burton-inspired costume, Reid performed a piece reminiscent of a zombie’s reanimation.
